U4GM - 5 Combos Involving Items and Jumping Attacks in Elden Ring
Jumping attacks in Elden Ring are not just for style—they’re a powerful mechanic that allows players to break enemy posture, interrupt spells, and deliver devastating damage. When paired with the right Elden Ring items, these airborne strikes become even more effective. After hundreds of hours exploring every corner of the Lands Between, I’ve discovered several item-based combos that make jumping attacks lethal and surprisingly versatile.
In this article, I’ll share five combos involving jumping attacks and consumable or support items. These are strategies I’ve used in both PvE boss fights and PvP duels. If you're looking to elevate your playstyle or need to restock quickly, many of these tools can be found through Elden Ring game shop items options.
1. Raptor's Black Feathers + Bone Dart + Jumping R2 Combo
This is one of my favorite early-to-mid game combos. The Raptor’s Black Feathers chest armor boosts jumping attack damage. Before charging into melee, I throw a Bone Dart or Kukri to stagger light enemies. That gives me the perfect opening to close the distance with a jumping R2 (heavy attack), often breaking their poise or outright killing them.
It’s a great combo for tight dungeons or ambush zones. I always keep a stockpile of throwing items in my pouch—many of which I sourced through Elden Ring game shop items to avoid tedious farming.
2. Fire Grease Buff + Jumping Greatsword Smash
Applying Fire Grease to your weapon before a jumping heavy attack can melt through enemies weak to fire, like the undead or Erdtree Avatars. In my run through the Weeping Peninsula, I used this combo constantly: Fire Grease followed by a jumping attack from a colossal weapon like the Ruins Greatsword would stagger or kill most enemies instantly.
Make sure to apply the grease just before engaging—timing is key for this burst combo.
3. Wondrous Physick Buff + Roar Medallion + Jumping Roar Attack
This is a late-game combo that truly shines with strength builds. I mixed my Wondrous Physick with the Strength-Knot Crystal Tear, then activated it before a fight. While it was active, I’d use a War Cry or Beast Roar Ash of War, which synergizes with the Roar Medallion talisman.
A jumping attack immediately after the buffed roar would deal massive posture damage. I used this against Crucible Knights and even stunned a Draconic Tree Sentinel mid-fight. The roar + jump combo became one of my signature openers in New Game+.
4. Freezing Pot + Jumping Dual Strike (Powerstanced Weapons)
Against fast bosses like Malenia or Godskin Apostle, slowing them down can be crucial. I used Freezing Pots to apply Frostbite buildup, then followed up with dual-wielded jumping attacks using curved swords or katanas. The posture damage plus Frostbite effect created a deadly loop.
Timing the pot throw is tricky—it works best right after a boss finishes an animation or dodges. If you’re short on materials, I recommend checking Elden Ring game shop items to grab extra pots or crafting supplies.
5. Sleep Pot + R2 Jumping Attack on Humanoid Enemies
Humanoid enemies like Banished Knights or Cleanrot Knights are tough but susceptible to Sleep status. I discovered this during my second playthrough: tossing a Sleep Pot can knock an enemy out long enough to land a charged jumping heavy attack. This often breaks their posture or instantly deals a critical blow.
This combo worked wonders in stormy castles and late-game Evergaol battles. It’s also a great way to deal with multiple enemies one at a time.
Jumping attacks are an underrated tool in Elden Ring, especially when combined with smart item usage. These five combos showcase how you can blend raw aggression with tactical planning using Elden Ring items you may already have—or can easily restock from Elden Ring game shop items.
In my experience, building around these synergies helped me push past some of the game’s toughest areas and gave me an edge in PvP duels. Whether you're a veteran or newcomer, mastering these combos can transform your approach to combat and open up new strategies for every type of enemy.
